Mr.Charoen Piyanuwatchai and Wife

The S.B.L. Restaurant is one of the Chinese restaurants that serve
traditional Taechew food for more than half a century.
Mr. Jouy Lim Sae Jia or Charoen Piyanuwatchai, who came from
Suathao Province , China, previously owned the restaurant.

Initially the S.B.L. Restaurant was a small shop selling "Aurouk"
( a deep fried oyster with egg), Taechew sukiyaki with its individual
recipe sauce (still available), and "Kao Man Kai" (which is an old
traditional Chinese cooking of rice and chicken meat) for Chinese
people in Yaowaraj area, the China town of Bangkok, as well as
Sampeng and Wangburapa areas. Later it became well known.

Originally S.B.L. was called "Somboonlarb" but as most of the Chinese
customers couldn't pronounce the name, it was simplified to its initials
S.B.L. by one of our top customer, Dr. Prasong Toojinda.

Mr.Varath Piyanuwatchai the sixth of the eight children of
Mr. Jouy Lim Sae Jia, improved this old restaurant in 1997 from
monotonous to a new style with a vision and concept of next generation.

The new style is a mixture between Classical Chinese and fine Italian
Style. We have also improved our products and service in every way.
We progress with time and now have special menu for the next
generation, a combination between Hong Kong and Taechew food,
which is beneficial for health.

Our goal is to give remarkable and respectful service to customers,
leaving them with a long lasting impression.
